Will we recover from the Donald?

We are still living in unprecedented times. The leader of the free world intent on destroying democracy by eroding away the image of the Presidency. I’m not sure how long it will take to recuperate, my guess is another president or 2.

Joe Biden will face waves of criticism and synancism which will ultimately be tied to the populism with which Trump abused and used to his advantage. Given the latest backdrop of economic conditions due to Covid, I honestly don’t think we are out of the woods yet. America is still operating a massive Current Account Deficit with China. The country still has sky high debts and the country still has what seem to be insurmountable issues with inequality. It’s going to take a strong but noble leader to fix these huge issues. Trump didn’t have the answers and I don’t believe Biden really does either.

Biden will hopefully calm the waters for a period of time before the next president (who will hopefully be competent, driven and intelligent) comes along and makes the necessary changes to put America back on the right path. Unfortunately for all of Obama’s charisma and intelligence as a leader he could not make the necessary changes and alot of the structural issues got deeper on his watch. Now we must wait. The fever of populism will rise again when the pandemic lifts and the dust settles from the economic destruction we have hit ourselves with.

Self-empowerment should be the driving force, green industrial revolution should be the promise of a better economic tomorrow, Environmental Social and Governance needs to be embedded in business analysis at all levels. We have to be ahead of the East. Communism can not sweep the world. It would be a disaster for the human freedoms fought so valiantly for in WW2 and all other parts of history before that.

I have some ideas as to how we can put jet fuel under our democracy to bring it into the 21st century… I will divulge in a later post. For now let’s be optimistic let’s be faithful that the future will be better than the past, lets not give into fear again.

Peace and love x
