We live in a time of social justice — but who gives you the authority to decide what is right and what is wrong?

When we take a look at the current political climate, it is very easy to see that we are completely divided. Half of us want one thing the other half want another. My question to each group is, to whom do you get this authority?

As a christian my obvious answer is Christ, but I know many an atheist who will turn off right now. I do believe a god exists and I do believe that the world and the universe is not just a random set of things happening at any one time. I know from my own rational investigation but I also know from my own experience.

Many a “scientist” will have you believe that science has all the answers. And undoubtedly they do, “they" as a collective will tell you exactly how and why the universe works the way it does and I admit they are most likely right on 99% of their findings (I stay away from 100% due to our human lack of perfection). Steven Hawking would tell us the universe is expanding and it all began with the big bang and we all nod along and agree. Well because Steven said so. He may be supremely intelligent but that does not make him god. It makes him an expert in his field not a perfect human mind.

Science will tell you how things work and how things are put together. But it wont tell you how to live. 2000 years or more of the Christian text has more wisdom (which is not knowledge) in it of how we should live than any scientist will tell you.

The reason I write this is because I just read my bible and Jesus’ words struck me. He was washing the feet of his disciples. His feet for goodness sake when he said that no master is above his student. What a remarkable idea. One in which people of today could do with taking note of. How many people become masters only to attempt to rule over their students or employees or families like dictatorial menaces. You are a servant first.

Is this something that science or psychology can tell us from a rational stand point? Probably not, or maybe they could, in any case it has already been discovered 2000 years ago.

That’s enough time and practice of multiple generations for me!
