Be the change you want to see in the world

Does god exist is a pretty existential question. It is pretty popular today, from the content I see, to believe that he doesn’t. How could he? His ways seem ancient, outdated, irrelevant, un-scientific, and mostly unbelievable. I believe this is both the rhetorical norm of today and also a very short assumption if you are not following the common reasoning of today. Here’s my rational for God’s existence.

  1. If you ask enough questions eventually something has to come from nothing. Nothing cannot create nothing therefore something had to start something. There are scientific theories for this nothingness but I feel…

Today’s age is riddled with immorality. It’s not something much discussed. Whether the actions you are about to perform are really the best for all involved. Even your enemies. Like every age there is a struggle and like every human in every age there is imperfection. In the Social Media age, everything is flashy, get your attention, sexed up, sassy, fun, free spirited. We show our best selves and at our worst show how great we are at recovering. …

All cameras are at a UN Summit and Greta Thunberg is addressing the world and sticking it to the establishment. “You are not doing enough” , “How dare you”, “You have stolen my dreams”. Was she wrong. Nope! Was she reiterating the feelings of every informed person under 30 years old? Yep! Conversation after conversation after conversation that I had with 100s of people about this particular topic over the last 5 years were unbelievable. It was so far off people’s top agenda that it was depressing thinking about the impending crisis which we are creeping into. Literally no will…

We are still living in unprecedented times. The leader of the free world intent on destroying democracy by eroding away the image of the Presidency. I’m not sure how long it will take to recuperate, my guess is another president or 2.

Joe Biden will face waves of criticism and synancism which will ultimately be tied to the populism with which Trump abused and used to his advantage. Given the latest backdrop of economic conditions due to Covid, I honestly don’t think we are out of the woods yet. America is still operating a massive Current Account Deficit with China…

Why do biblical stories like this still matter today?

The story of Cain and Abel goes something like this. Cain and Abel are brothers and both brothers want to be in Gods favour. From my reading of the scripture Cain goes about trying to please God by bringing him fruit from his land but Abel brings God the first fats of his flock. Biblically speaking God rewards those who bring their first fruits not just some of their produce. Delving slightly deeper into this point without going off track, this in my mind, would be because he wants his people to put him first. Why?

  1. Firstly because the importance…

I read a post on Facebook today which saddened my heart. A young woman wanting to end her life. I won’t name her but needless to say it’s a shame that many people today are having thoughts like this.

How on earth has this happened? With all this comfort with all this stuff? With everything we could ever dream of having owning and doing we are in a drought of internal peace.

I know that it is this internal peace that we have sacrificed for this stuff. We are not thankful for this stuff or our relationships with one another…

When we take a look at the current political climate, it is very easy to see that we are completely divided. Half of us want one thing the other half want another. My question to each group is, to whom do you get this authority?

As a christian my obvious answer is Christ, but I know many an atheist who will turn off right now. I do believe a god exists and I do believe that the world and the universe is not just a random set of things happening at any one time. …

I’ve been thinking and saying it for the best part of 3 or 4 years. The stock market is overpriced, housing prices are too high, the market is going to crash. And yet for most of those years the market has been soaring.

Reflecting on my views I sometimes think I’m being a bit too negative. I’ve missed out on 5 years of solid gains by thinking that the market was going to crash and it never happening. There was a day in 2020 where it did fundamentally come true but the rebound was astronomical. A recovery to pre-covid levels…

With all this technology and our ability to build a culture that is far more obsessed with success than it is with how we treat one another we need to get back to our fundamental roots. The western world is built on Christian values. I do fundamentally believe this. I do also understand that many examples of christianity are bad. I mean for goodness sake take a look at Donald Trump holding up a bible at the beginning of 2020.

But I do believe many of these so called “Christians” are not doing what the scripture suggests we should be…

Yes making improvements to out lives is positive and good and fulfilling. But does it really matter? What we sowe on this earth in our lives is important but it is not the most fundamental thing to who we are.

We are born for more than that. We are born for kindness, born for gentleness and born for patience. Could we just lift our gaze from the lights and the glitz and the fancy shiny promise of riches we would find something more rich right inside ourselves. Something that is more precious than gold.

Make being kind in 2021 your goal and your life will feel better, new Lamborghini or not.
